TREMON MANAGER WINS MAJOR AWARD

We are very proud of the accomplishments of our team at Tremon Thoroughbreds and particular acknowledgment goes to our super Manager Sue Markwell, who this year is the first woman in the Australian equine industry to win the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation " Rural Women's Award for 2005 ".

The award was presented by the Minister for Agriculture for the Department of Primary Industry, The Hon. Bob Cameron, MP.

This award is a wonderful acknowledgment for the dedication and initiatives Sue has shown whilst Manager of Tremon Thoroughbreds and in particular her untiring work in the development of horses and the pioneering of our Rehabilitation Centre for injured and post-operative horses.

Sue's award offers a study bursary for the winner and Sue is applying her bursary towards gaining a greater understanding of the latest rehabilitation advancements through a study tour of relevant veterinary clinics both domestically and in New Zealand.

This will ensure that Tremon Thoroughbreds will continue to provide a ‘world’s best practice’ clinic that offers specialized post-operative care for horses recovering from injuries and illness and a teaching environment for students in a variety of effective treatments and procedures.

TREMON THOROUGHBREDS RACING LEASES & PARTNERSHIPS

Our current team:

FILLY - 3YO

NAME SIRE DAM DAM SIRE
GREAT PLEASURE FRENCH DEPUTY THAT KIND OF GIRL DANEHILL

QUESTRIAN (Quest For Fame - That Kind Of Girl) bred and raised by us on our farm makes it a super Sunday.

An impressive win for Questrian

After two very encouraging seconds at his 3YO campaign, our colt did a great job to WIN on Sunday January 21, 2007 over 1600 metres and collect not only the winner's prize money, but the SUPER VOBIS bonus for our new partnership.

Showing great speed to take up a handy position behind the leaders, our colt, carrying 57kgs, got clear in the straight to record a strong win.

CREATIVE PLAN (Flying Spur-Western Chorus) bred and raised on our farm makes us all very happy.

After a very encouraging and courageous second at her 2YO debut on March 28, our filly really did a great job to WIN at her second start on April 13 and her time of 57.56 seconds was only 0.2 of a second outside the track record and she ran 1.41 seconds faster than the colts division and faster than the older horses later in the day. Whilst she is not essentially a sprinter for the short courses, she shows great speed and courage in both her races and we can be encouraged for the future when she gets over more ground.

An impressive win for Creative Plan

At only her third start on May 8, 2004, our filly stepped up in class to Moonee Valley over 1200 metres and WON impressively by 3.5 lengths. Our filly will now be spelled with 3YO spring racing her next target.

At her fourth start and on return from her spell, our 3 year old filly began her spring campaign in the 1103 metres "showcase race" at Geelong on September 2, 2004 and WON impressively by 5 lengths.

On September 19, 2004 our filly contested her first stakes race and ran excellently in the 1400 metre Jumeirah Stake (GR3) at Caulfield. Unfortunately when making her run in the straight she was contacted by the eventual winner and the interference cost her a clear placing, but she was most meritorious in finishing fourth in her first big stakes event.

On October 23, 2004 our filly accomplished her first career stakes win in the 1600 metres Eliza Park Stakes (LR) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day. She showed great speed and courage to break clear 600 metres from home and was eased down to WIN impressively by 1.75 lengths.

On November 2, 2004 our filly ran a great race in the 1400 metre Great Western Stakes ( LR ) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day. She showed great courage and determination with top weight of 58kgs to be beaten only a short head on a very wet and windy day.

On November 13, 2004 our filly accomplished her second career stakes win in the 1400 metre Twilight Glow Stakes ( LR ) at Sandown on Sandown Classic day.

She showed great determination and brilliance to overcome an extremely heavy track and interference to swoop from near last and go away from the field to WIN impressively by 1.25 lengths. In only our filly's second preparation she has made enormous progress to win 5 from 9 starts. Our filly will now be spelled with the autumn stakes races her next target.

On April 23, 2005 our filly returned to racing in the 1000 metres SAJC Skyy Blue Redelva Stakes ( LR ). Starting from barrier 1 our filly missed the start and was 17th on the turn, but when pulled out wide she flew home to run a gallant second beaten only 1.3 lengths in the very fast time of 56.76.

On May 7, 2005 our filly contested the 1200 metres SAJC Yallambee Stakes ( GR2 ). In a very hot field our filly drew the outside barrier against the colts. With a poorly judged ride our filly flew home as the widest runner to be beaten only 1.2 lengths in the very fast time of 1.08.76, our filly was very courageous in defeat.

Unfortunately our filly has sustained a serious injury and has now been retired from racing. She has given all our partnership a great deal of pleasure and as the breeders, we are very proud of all our filly's accomplishments and look forward to racing another very talented partnership horse very shortly.
