FULL VET CARE, with INJURY and AFTERCARE FACILITIES

Tremon Stud provides a specialized rehabilitation service for injured horses, offering both pre and post operative care to horses of all breeds - racing, breeding and performance horses.

We are able to care for injuries such as fractures, splints, tendons, ringbone and radiation treatment.

Our facilities also enable us to offer sterile boxes for post operative care of horses with entrapped epiglottis and "roarers". We have established a most successful history of rehabilitating "roarers" and receive many cases throughout each year from all states of Australia and New Zealand.

As our Manager lives on site, we are able to offer 24 hour care for post operative horses.

We have size-graduated yards and paddocks which enable us to cater for horses requiring a short term stay as well as those requiring longer care, offering complete rehabilitation for recovering horses.

We are close to the University of Melbourne Veterinary Clinic at Werribee, and the veterinary clinics at Gisborne, Ballarat and Shepparton and due to his close proximity, horses are attended by Dr. Alastair MacLean offering 24 hour on call care.

Should we be able to assist you or your vet in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the stud on 03 9744 5053 or our Manager, Sue Markwell, on 0413 923333.

ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION STATION AT TREMON STUD

Tremon Stud has been established in the Shire of Melton since 1988 as a leading breeding farm, with state of the art facilities and innovations for the care of horses of all breeds.

Tremon Stud has an excellent artificial insemination (AI) service centre where we consistently achieve high pregnancy rates, and this is prooving particularly interesting to standard-bred mare owners located in the southern region of Victoria.

Situated in the heart of the Melton harness racing area and only a short distance from Tullamarine airport and the new Melton Harness Racing Complex, Tremon Stud is ideally placed to save mare owners transport costs, as well as reducing the stress on mares and foals that have previously endured long trips to be bred.

Tremon Stud will act as a " walk-on AI facility " utilizing the specialist vet Dr Olivia Greenwood, offering AI services for both chilled and frozen semen arriving from most studs in Australia and New Zealand.

Vet contracts are available which include all the necessary ultrasound checks pre and post AI. Also included are early pregnancy checks, 30 and 42 day scans and the issuing of pregnancy certificates.

Mare owners utilizing the Tremon Stud AI services will be eligible for transported semen discounts applicable to off-farm stallion services, making it cost effective to use the Tremon Stud service.

Mare owners have excellent security and services, with the manager of Tremon Stud Sue Markwell living at the stud and there is a vet available 24 hours per day.

With the support of many of Australia and New Zealand's leading standard-bred stallion owners, Tremon Stud looks forward to providing mare owners with a conveniently located high class AI facility that will provide considerable savings for the standard-bred owner, and the many pleasure horse owners that are now finding us a cost effective and convenient AI facility.

Contact may be made with Tremon Stud by telephoning 03 9744 5053 or emailing info@tremon.com.au

Tremon Stud in conjunction with Dr Olivia Greenwood is pleased to offer to our clients Artificial Insemination (AI) service for Harness and Pleasure mares.

Frozen and Chilled semen can be obtained for mares. Vet contracts are available which include hormone injections to induce cycling and ovulation, as well as the necessary ultrasound checks pre and post AI. Also included are early pregnancy checks, twin elimination, 30 and 42 day scans and issuing of pregnancy certificates.

Re: SLIPNSLIDE - diagnosed as a "Roarer" and hospitalised for a laryngoplasty operation.

Fortunately SLIPNSLIDE was placed under the care of the excellent veterinary team headed by surgeon Dr. Alastair MacLean and supported by the dedicated team at the post operative care facility at Tremon Stud.

We highly recommend the team at Tremon Stud, Trevor Gluck and Stud Manger Sue Markwell who are prepared to dedicate themselves to all the post operative care which is so important in our horse's recovery.

SLIPNSLIDE has now returned to racing in spectacular fashion with his first time out after operation running winning in 1.54.3

Great things come in small packages!

COCO is a minature American Horse who was expected to foal early in December. Her owners were concerned that because of small her size (28 inches tall) she was a risk to foal unattended so she came to Tremon Stud where not only could she be monitored but the Diamond Mesh safety fencing meant the expected foal was also safe. COCO produced a filly on December 4 that weighed around 7kgs and stood only 18 inches tall. This pretty filly and her mother have charmed all who have seen them.

Many thanks to all at Tremon Stud for their great care.

Re: I AM SAM - diagnosed as a "Roarer" and hospitalised for a laryngoplasty operation.

We have spent lots of time over the last two years following our standardbred pacer I Am Sam around the country as he competed in a number of group one races.

With I Am Sam we have been lucky enough to visit Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne, and Sydney, as well as Brisbane and the Gold Coast to watch him race as a two and three year old. He has rarely been out of a place and gave us our biggest thrill at Harold Park in Sydney, December 2005, when he won the Australian Pacing Gold three year old final for colts and geldings.

We were devastated when I Am Sam was diagnosed with a grade three larynx and therefore needed hospitalisation for a laryngoplasty operation. As I Am Sam was a rig and only a four year old, we thought that it would be an appropriate time to have him gelded, as he was already under the care of an excellent veterinary team headed by Dr Alister McLean and supported by, what we now know, is a dedicated and highly professional post operative care facility at Tremon Stud.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Tremon Stud, in particular, stud manager Sue Markwell, for her concern and professional duty of care. We are really appreciative of Sue's dedication and willingness to please and consider ourselves extremely lucky to have had him under her care. I Am Sam arrived home recently AOK and we were really happy when we saw him as he arrived in much better condition than we expected after, what seemed to us, such a long ordeal.

We highly recommend Tremon Stud. Trevor Gluck and his dedicated team have proved to us that they are prepared to take the extra step needed when post operative care is such an important part of a horse's recovery. We are hopeful that I Am Sam will now be able to put all behind him and come back to racing better than ever, but only time will tell. One thing that we do know is that Dr Alister McLean and Tremon Stud have allowed us to take the first step toward I Am Sam's future racing career.

Thank you again Sue for all your emails and phone calls and for taking the time to send us updated photos. It has been very reassuring for us as interstate owners unable to visit your facility in person, to be reassured that our horse was being well cared for. If we are lucky enough to have a horse racing in Victoria we would welcome the opportunity to visit your facility and to meet you in person.

Our very warmest regards to all the staff at Tremon Stud.

Re: ELLICORSAM - Mare treated for chronic inflammation of front feet and pedal bone

Thanks to the caring and patient efforts of Trevor Gluck and his team at Tremon Stud, we are proud to have our special mare “Ellicorsam” back in the winners circle.

Since her return she has won the $250,000 Group 2 Colonel Reeves Stakes at the Ascot summer carnival and last week won the $100,000 Listed Hareeba Stakes at Mornington. Well done Tremon Stud for assisting in her successful return.

Re: SQUEAK (True Colours) - treated for a split epiglottis

Squeak has recovered from his injury with no side effects at all, he came home four days before our Horse of the Year Show in January and carried Claire to Senior Tasmanian rider Of the Year (see picture below).

SQUEAK is the only Appaloosa in the country to have won a Royal Show Open Hacking Championship winning Reserve Champion Open Hack and Champion Novice Exhibit at the Royal Launceston show under Dale Plumb in 2005.

SQUEAK is known and loved Australia wide. Everywhere he goes people take notice and feel compelled to come and pat him and talk to Claire. They give her support for competing on a coloured mount, and take the time to admire him.

I was very impressed with the care and attention SQUEAK received during his stay at Tremon. He a very suspicious horse who normally will not let anyone but Claire or myself catch him. For him to allow himself to be caught even when he would receive a needle twice a day meant he trusted the staff and felt secure. Sometimes the wrong body language or even a wrong look will send him snorting and galloping around the paddock hysterically. He arrived home happy and in good condition and none the worse for his injury.

I thank you very much for your efforts and I would not hesitate to recommend Tremon to anyone, and would certainly send SQUEAK back if the need ever arose.

Thank you again.

Re: LA COOCARACHA - treated for a broken foot

I would like to thank you for the fantastic help you have been in restoring our champion trotter LA COOCARACHA back to 100% health (see picture below).

We were very dubious about our chances after our filly broke her foot, but thanks to your dedication and commitment to repair all the damage, we have our filly fit and well to resume her career.

Thank you to everyone for making us so welcome during all our many visits over the 3 months of rehabilitation, and congratulations on having such marvelous facilities.

I have no hesitation to recommend your farm facilities for the future.

Re: THE GROUSE - spelled at Tremon Stud

I would like to extend our appreciation of your farm's attention to detail.

As you are aware I recently spelled my pacer THE GROUSE at your farm after 22 consecutive 3YO races. After such a hard campaign I wanted the horse to have a long spell at a good and safe farm close to my property where I could keep a close eye on him.

I selected Tremon as it seemed to be a well kept and managed farm, but this also had been my first encounter with the farm.

I was delighted with the service and attention to detail for the safe and conscious well being of all the horses on the property.

I have been let down previously with some farms, as I have been involved in the standard bred breeding and racing industry for over 20 years. Kath and I always felt welcomed by Sue when we came to visit the horse. Sue was more than helpful with showing us THE GROUSE and giving an update of how he settled in and his recovery, which is of utmost importance.

I have since sent the horse down to Tasmania for a racing campaign and my trainer Barrie Rattray, Tasmania's leading trainer, commented on how well and rejuvenated the horse was when he arrived. THE GROUSE has since had 5 starts for 2 wins, 2 thirds and a 4th racing in good company.

We plan to bring him back to the mainland some time this year to race at the Country Cups circuit and at Moonee Valley. During this time I will have no hesitation in giving him a let up at Tremon.

Once again we would like to thank the farm and its staff for a first class professional job.
